My Thoughts on Fate's Second Chance

I have to admit I’m a much better talker than writer when it comes to expressing my thoughts on certain issues so hopefully this makes sense to everyone who reads this.

I've read some recent reviews that have stated what they didn’t like about Fate's Second Chance was that it was hard for them to separate Marie from Marc. I can see where that could happen, after all I did write the story. But my intentions were not to separate the two because Marie was always Marc and Marc will always be Marie. A little confusing? Let me explain.

I’m one of those people who hate when people say she acts like a man or he comes off just a little too feminine. Who is the judge of this? Who has the right to say that about another individual?

What I’m getting at is that most of us are conditioned at an early age to think men should act a certain way and same for women. But why? As people are minds are forever growing and changing and putting labels on people is just constricting. I believe people act the way they want and there isn’t a set mold we should have to try and fit into. So I didn’t make Marc over masculine but he was still a man. I wonder if I never wrote Marc as being a woman to begin with if readers would have looked at the story differently. If I had Marc characterized as just being a sensitive guy who’s emotions got the best of him at times would that have made a difference?  Would it have changed the way the reader viewed Marc?

I wanted Marc to be seen as a man, who just so happens use to be a woman, going through the ups and downs of falling in love. Men and women experience the same down falls on the road to their happy ever after but is it that much different from one another? I don’t think it is. We’re all a bunch of people living in this huge world just trying to get through the days and hopefully find that one special person who makes all the hard work worth it at the end of the day.

Fate's Second Chance was my first published work and I would be the first to agree that there were things I wish I could have changed or added. I'm sure every writer has that should of, could of, would of crap run through their mind. But if you change to much stuff during edits your editor would probably want to strangle you. LOL!

I welcome all comments be it good or bad. Some constructive criticism never hurt anyone. My goal as a writer is to write material that others find entertaining and hopefully I'm accomplishing that particular goal. Without readers where would us writers be?

I hope everyone enjoys the start to their week and happy reading!!!

Marie thought dying was the worst thing to happen to her, until informed she's always been a man's soul trapped in a woman's body. As Marc, he's got one shot to set things right--by finding love with his best friend and soul mate--with only a month to do it.

Marie Carter has never felt comfortable in her own body, and it took dying to find out why. Ross, her unlikely guardian angel, informs her that mistakes were made and he needs her help to save her fate, Ross's wings, and her best friend's heart.

Six month's after Marie's death, Marc arrives with one month to heal Sabrina's—his sister's—suffering, and win his soulmate, Shawn. If he fails, Sabrina will never know peace, Ross will be kicked out of heaven, and the love of his life will die from a broken heart. Will that be enough time to heal the wounds a lifetime in the wrong body has caused?

Excerpt

Lost in my own thoughts, I almost didn't feel the
light touch on my arm. I turned to look into Shawn's
concerned face.

"Are you okay, Marc? If you're not sure about this,
we don't have to do anything you don't want to."

I took a step closer to Shawn. I was standing on the
top step and him on the bottom one, so our eyes were level
with one another. I put the palm of my hand against his
cheek. I felt a day's worth of stubble and chills ran down
my spine at the contact with the spiky facial hair.

"Oh no, I want to. I was just thinking about how
sudden this is. I don't want to be just another notch on your
bed post." This was true. I wanted more than just one night
with Shawn. Ross said we were destined to be together but
what if Shawn didn't feel the full weight of that inner pull
to each other?

Shawn took a step up to where he towered over me.
"First off, nothing is ever a guarantee in life. Second, after
spending the past few hours talking to you, I would hope at
least you would want to go out on a date with me."

"Really?" I whispered.

"Really." He bent down and kissed the tip of my
nose. "But if you want to go slow, we can. Good things
come to those who wait."

Shawn walked the rest of the way up the steps. He
ushered me inside and shut the door behind him. I turned to
face him and in the moonlit foyer, Shawn had never looked
sexier. His golden hair glowed in the dim light and the hard
edges of his face stood out making him look like a Greek
god.

"Why wait?"

I shoved Shawn against the door and pulled his face
down to mine. When our lips touched, a deep sigh passed
my parted lips. Shawn wrapped his arms around my waist
and held me against his chest.

As his hands roamed, I let my tongue explore the
inner depths of his mouth. With a little poking and
prodding, he opened wide to let me in. I slid my tongue
over his and coaxed it to play with mine. He tasted of beer
and a distinctive flavor that was all his own.

The wet slurping sounds of our kissing caused my
cock to ache painfully. I was hard as stone and these tight
jeans sure as hell weren't helping the cause. The need to
come had me grinding my groin against Shawn's muscular
thigh.

I want you inside me.

"Are you sure?" Shawn asked between kisses.

My head jerked back as I realized I'd said the words
aloud for all to hear. I held Shawn's gaze. "I'm sure if you're
sure."

A small grin was my only warning before Shawn
used his hands to pull up on my ass cheeks. I quickly
wrapped my legs around his hips as he carried me down the
hallway to his room.

Virtual Book Tour

I started a virtual book tour and I just got to say that doing that over the Christmas holiday was a complete fail on my part. Between kids, family, illness and Christmas I haven't been doing a good job promoting this thing. This is an extremely busy time of the year for me which I'm sure is the same for most people but its better late than never.

Feel free to visit any or all the stops. Some of the blog host have reviews or I've done a guest post. And let me just say the guest blog post were hard to do. I've been battling this head cold and my thoughts are all over the place.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

I'm trying really hard to make Sunday my blog day. At least I'm trying to. Between family, work, and writing shit gets pushed aside or I just plane forget, which happens quite often. I'm only human.

Well my show wasn't on tonight, Once a Upon a Time. That sucked. So I watched Fridays Supernatural. So good and an awesome cliff hanger ending. I hate that crap but gets the viewers coming back every week. It never ceases to amaze me how they can come up with story line after story line for that show. Impressive.

I've come to terms that promoting my book is kind of hard and just not fun for me. On this journey I discovered there are a ton of groups you can join and through these groups you promote your work, post excerpts, and just chat with other writers and readers. Now in theory this sounds like fun and easy work, but it ain't. This is just my opinion but they seem kind of clicky. Granted I'm a new writer and a lot of these people have been writing for years but I just don’t know when to jump into the chat. And when I do sometimes no one answers back. Makes it hard for us newbies to get involved and meet new people. But it is the nature of the beast promoting is. I'm doing my best to get my name out there, but like me, people have their favorite authors that they follow and it’s hard to gain your own audience. Just got to keep trying.

Fate's Second Chance has had one review and it was great. Got 5 Hearts from MM Good Book Reviews. It definitely put a smile on my face. Link to review below.

In other news, this bitch got a new laptop! Sony finally agreed my Vaio was unfixable and agreed to give us a full refund. I'm now the proud owner of a new hp laptop.

 Well writing calls. Happy reading!

Fate's Second Chance is Released This Week!!

My first book, Fate’s Second Chance, gets released this week through Silver Publishing. I must say this all seems so surreal. To think I set my mind to something and stuck with it to the very end, or in this case the beginning, to get my book published. It’s a freaking miracle and it happened faster than I had anticipated.

I'm not one of those people who knew all their life they wanted to write. I knew I loved to read but that was it. My love for reading helped me escape from the craziness of my life. Never once did I ever imagine this; book being released on Thursday and two more that have been accepted for future release. I must say I’ve gone above and beyond my expectations. I guess the moral is you’re never too old to dream BIG!!!

On to other things in my crazy life, Halloween is tomorrow and I have four kids who are so excited it makes me sick. I keep thinking of all the candy I will eventually throw away. Such a waste but for a few hours my kids will feel bigger than life prancing out in their costumes. For a parent so worth it.

My hubby helped the kids carve pumpkins since I had to work today and I’ve been under the weather lately. I just got to say they are the ugliest pumpkins I have ever seen. He actually let our ten and seven year olds carve, with a knife, their own pumpkins. The one my oldest son did is messed up looking but oddly enough it kind of fits his personality. LOL!
